2. Read and translate, at first sight, a text of at least 300 words from a book or magazine in a language other than your native language.
3. Be able to hold a conversation in this other language for at least five minutes.
4. Listen to a speech or statement lasting at least two minutes by someone whose native language is your chosen foreign language and translate it into your own language.
5. Write a simple letter in your chosen foreign language and describe the contacts you have made with people whose native language is your chosen language.
6. Know and repeat from memory the Pathfinder Pledge and Law in this foreign language.
7. Write or verbally present information about a foreign population whose native language is your chosen language who lives in your neighborhood, city, region, or state, and what opportunities you have to converse with native speakers of that language.
Note: Once you've chosen a foreign language, get a suitable book for learning that language and study it thoroughly. Of course, it's best to study languages under the guidance of a competent teacher, at a school or course.
